INGREDIENTS

  • 1 medium head cabbage

  • 1 lb ground meat (I use turkey)

  • 2 1/2 cups cooked rice

  • 2 medium onions

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms, rough chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1 can tomato soup

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tblsp pepper

  • milk

  • ketchup

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Core cabbage and freeze overnight. Allow to thaw in refrigerator. Place in boiling water until warm to touch and completely thawed, remove to cool, and and peel each leaf away from head carefully. Use filet knife to thin thick vein until flat with cabbage leaf. Reserve unusable leaves.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Cook rice according to instructions.

  • Sautee onion and mushroom until softened. Cook meat until browned.

  • Add onion, mushroom, meat, rice, egg, salt, and pepper into bowl. Hand-combine.

  • Place a ball of the meat mixture to the bottom of each cabbage leaf. Roll the leaf around the meat ball then incorporate sides until a roll forms. Place cabbage rolls seam side down in baking dish. Top with ketchup.

  • Combine can of tomato soup and 1/2 can filled with milk. Add to baking dish. Place reserved leaves on top of cabbage rolls.

  • Bake 60 minutes.
